Dr Goh is
a Research Professor and Head of the Endocrine Research Laboratory of the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the National University of
Singapore. He is a clinical scientist and has been involved in
biomedical research for the last 26 years. He specialises in research into the
causes of diseases arsing from hormone dysfunctions. Prof Goh is locally
trained and has had further training in London in 1978, and the National
Institute of Health, USA from 1983 to 1985. n
He has been an advisor to the Special Human Reproduction Programme of
Research of the World Health Organisation since 1980 and is currently the
Chairman of WHO Regional Advisory Panel (RAP) for the Asia and Pacific Region.
Prof Goh is concurrently an active adjunct Senior Scientist with the Defence
Medical Research Institute (DMRI) of DSTA. Chairman, DMRI Ethics Committee, and
Chairman, Research Committee of the Asian and Pacific Council for the Study of
Ageing Males (ACSAM).
Prof Goh
is the Principal Investigator of many research projects including a Research
into Natural Ageing, the first study of its kind in Asia, and study of human
factors especially those concerns with sustained operation, and circadian and
sleep/wake cycle for military personnel. He has published and presented more
than 350 articles in various fields including, reproductive endocrinology,
infertility, gynaecological oncology, prenatal diagnosis, clinical diagnostics,
growth hormone and ageing, circadian rhythms and work shift etc. He has won
numerous awards including the prestigious Science and Technology Award as a
member of the team in NUH, which pioneered the In Vitro Fertilisation Programme
in Singapore, the Boerhinger Mannheim’s Gold medal, and the Benjamin Sheares’
Memorial Lecture Gold Medal.
