Teaching Experience
1.
After joining
as a Reader in October 1988 and later as a Professor in Pondicherry University
since September 1997 I helped the School in organizing the teaching and
research programme and introduced several new courses at M.Sc. and M.Phil.
levels. Offered courses in Biochemistry, Instrumentation, Intermediary
Metabolism, Research Methodology, Bioinformatics, Reproductive Endocrinology
and Biotechnology. I am currently offering some of these courses under Choice
Based Credit System.

Taught M.Sc.
and M.Phil. classes at the Department of Zoology, Kurukshetra University,
Kurukshetra (February 1982 - October 1988). Offered courses in Biochemistry,
Physiology, Reproductive Physiology, Research Methodology and General Zoology.
Research experience
1.
Research
experience since July 1976. Title of the Ph.D. thesis is "Functional Study
of Steroidogenic Activity in Testis".
2.
Successfully
completed an ICMR training course on ' Hormone Assays' and a WHO/ICMR Workshop
on ' Immunofluorescence' conducted by Dr. Senga Whittingham (Australia) at the
Institute for Research in Reproduction, Bombay.
3.
Participated
in a workshop on 'Protein and enzyme purification and kinetics' at the
University of Delhi, Delhi.
4.
I have
received financial support (US $ 27,000) from the Population Council, New York
to work on some newly discovered testicular proteins. Currently I have a major
research project from the Department of Science & Technology, Government of
India (Rs. 16 lakhs).
5.
I have
received grants from Indian funding agencies like DST, CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT,
Lady Tata Trust towards my research activities.
6.
I have
experience of guiding several M. Phil. and doctoral dissertations. At present I

the University in developing and strengthening various teaching programmes. I
have acted as the Head of the School of Life Sciences, Pondicherry University,
Pondicherry (July 2000-July 2001, November/ December 2001and September/October
2002).

serving on various academic committees such as Academic Council, Boards of
Studies, Programme Committees, Library Committees, etc. and served on various
inspection committees of Pondicherry University.

I was
responsible for planning and organization of Bioinformatics Centre funded by
the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India as its Coordinator since
1991. Now the Centre has become a full-fledged national facility and has taken
a lead in teaching students and training manpower in Bioinformatics. The Centre
has been offering an Advanced PG Diploma in Bioinformatics with the support of
DBT. It had also offered PG Diploma Course in Bioinformatics under the auspices
of Community College, Pondicherry University.

I have been
helping the University in getting internet connectivity through procurement of
Micro-Earth Station and further up-gradation of the facility by 1 Mbps radio
link.

I am
coordinating development and hosting of web-pages of Pondicherry University.

I am member

I have acted
