Guo Yinglu is the leader of the new generation in the field of urology and andrology in China. He has been chief editor for 27 books, published more than 300 papers and won awards for more than 20 scientific projects. In 1982, he was in charge of the investigation and production of the first generation of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripter in China, which was used clinically to treat renal stone in 1984. He was the first urologist in the world to use the prone position for extracorporeal ureter lithotripsy and is the pioneer in the field of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. In the 1980s, he took the lead in China in doing microvasive procedures, such as transurethral resection, ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephroscopy and laparoscopy, and edited the first professional book for renal transplantation Renal Transplantation. In 1991, he edited the first book Endourology in this field and became the founder of Chinese endourology. In 1995, he founded the Chinese Andrology Society and the Urologist Training College of Peking University and in 2005, he set up the Chinese Urological Doctor Association. He also founded the Andrology Center of the Peking University First Hospital and made it work well and the best center in this field in China. For many years, Guo has made great contributions to the quick development of Chinese urology by consistently opening up new fields and bringing forth new ideas.
