Sae Chul Kim

Dr. Sae-Chul Kim is a Professor of the Department of Urology at the Chung-Ang University Hospital. Professor Kim graduated from Kyungpook National University School of Medicine in Daegu, Korea. He continued his urology training at the same university, where he also completed his doctorate before accepting a research fellowship with the Brookdale Medical Center in New York, US.
He first implanted the penile prosthesis (1983) and first underwent the vascular reconstructive surgeries (1987) for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, did the first successful combination therapy with electroejaculation and in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer for the patient with neurogenic anejaculation, and have the widest experiences in the fields, thus, has developed the new field on the Andrology in Korea. He also first installed the extracorporeal shock wave lithotriptor (ESWL) for the urinary stone disease in Korea (1987).
Professor Kim was once a President of the Korean Urological Association, the Korean Society of Andrology, the Korean Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Korean Society for Sexology, and the Asian Pacific Society of Sexual Medicine, and has actively involved as a Council member of the Urological Association of Asia. He was appointed as a chairman in Local Organizing Committee of the 8th Congress of the International Society of Andrology. Furthermore, he worked as a General Director of Chung-Ang University Medical Center (2005~2009) and as a vice president of Chung-Ang University (2007~2009).
His article was published in the Journal of Urology, for the first time ever as a Korean article and since then he has been writing many more countless articles. His recent main research interests are male sexual dysfunction, testosterone deficiency and metabolic syndrome and lower urinary tract symptoms in male. On six occasions, Professor Kim has been awarded the Academic Award from the Korean Urological Association. Furthermore, he has authored numerous scientific papers and published in renowned international journals. He is also the Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine and the Asian Journal of Andrology, and Scientific Advisor of the Adrologia.
