一项欧洲男性老龄化研究已表明和男性衰老相关的性腺功能低下大都为继发性。理论上适当刺激垂体能使衰老中的睾丸恢复分泌正常水平的睾酮。迟发型性腺功能低下（LOH）治疗策略主要为睾酮外源性替代或内源性恢复。此文章的目的为综述现有支持内源性睾酮恢复治疗LOH这一观点的同行评议文献。
