Global Advances in Prostate Cancer Diagnosis and Therapy special issue
(Guest editors: Prof. Howard R Soule and Dr Yinghao Sun)
The May 2013 Special Issue of Asian Journal of Andrology presents the outcomes from the Sixth Annual Forum on Prostate Disease (6th FPD), which was held on June 8-9, 2012 in Shanghai, China. The conference was a blend of scientific and cultural exchange between the major research institutes of the United States and China. This special issue provides an overview of the major discussions that occurred at the 6th FPD, which broadly focused on prostate cancer heterogeneity (the underlying biology) and the relevant biomarkers that can appropriately stratify the risk to prostate cancer patients to avoid problems associated with over-diagnosis and over-treatment. We hope that this special issue will aid prostate cancer clinicians and researchers in gaining an understanding of the current state of the science of prostate cancer biology.
